Addiction

Addiction is a chronic, often lifelong neuropsychological disorder characterized by the compulsive use of a substance or engagement in a behaviour despite physical, psychological or social consequences.

It alters the brain’s reward and motivation centres making it extremely difficult to stop without treatment and support.
